A recent online campaign urged the show's creator Lorne Michaels to allow the Golden Girls star to take part in the programme.
Entertainment Weekly has now claimed that White could appear on the show as part of a 'Women Of Comedy' special.
The move would mean that White, who is 88, would not have to host the 90-minute programme by herself.
Molly Shannon, Tina Fey and Amy Poehler are reportedly also in the frame for the special edition of the show, although an NBC spokesperson said that no-one has yet been confirmed.
