Inspired by the cult Twitter account of the same name, the show is based around the relationship between a young man (Devlin) and his crass, opinionated father (Shatner).
Creator Justin Halpern co-wrote the script with Patrick Schumacker, and Will & Grace's David Kohan and Max Mutchnick are executive producing, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Directed by sitcom veteran James Burrows, the show also features Nicole Sullivan as Devlin's sister-in-law.
The title is expected to change if the pilot gets series approval.
