Plemons loses 'Friday Night Lights' role

Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, executive producer Jason Katims confirmed that the actor's contract was not renewed for the show's fifth season.
He said: "With Jesse - as with previous cast members who have moved on - [executive producer] Pete Berg, myself, and the producers of the show let the storytelling guide us, and we feel we didn't have enough storylines to justify keeping such an immensely talented actor from pursuing what we know will continue to be a very successful career.
"Jesse has created one of Friday Night Lights's finest and beloved characters, and I can tell you this was not an easy decision."
However, Katims added that Plemens may reprise his role as Landry Clarke on a guest star basis.
He explained: "We hope he will come back for the season opener and several other episodes later in the season, depending on his availability."
The fourth season of Friday Night Lights premieres on NBC on April 30.
