The special edition, which featured President Obama, marked 1,000 episodes of the crime show. The 9pm showing won its slot and averaged 300k more than last week's instalment, which aired against the high-flying Olympics coverage on NBC.
Elsewhere on Fox, a double bill of Cops averaged a decent 6.07m during the 8pm hour. However, a repeat of CBS's police procedural drama NCIS just pipped the long-running documentary series with 6.17m.
CBS aired a further repeat in the 9pm hour, with CSI: Miami claiming 5.72m, before a new 48 Hour Mystery took 7.09m and won the 10pm hour.
Over on ABC, reruns of 20/20: Before They Were Stars and an Oprah Winfrey Oscar Special scored 4.17m and 3.41m in the 8pm and 9pm hours respectively. A Castle rerun then managed 3.85m at 10pm.
NBC, which also aired reruns across its schedule, could only muster 3.27m at 8pm with Parenthood. The audience then climbed during two episodes of Law & Order, which interested 4.77m and 5.28m.
