Judy Woodruff leaves CNN
Published Thursday, Apr 28 2005, 22:05 BST | By James Welsh
Judy Woodruff will leave CNN in June after twelve years at the news network.
Woodruff had anchored her afternoon programme, Inside Politics with Judy Woodruff, from CNN's headquarters in Atlanta earlier this week, leading many to speculate that contract negotiations were taking place. Today's announcement would seem to back that speculation up: it is understood that CNN offered Woodruff a new contract, but that she left before negotiations on that new deal commenced.
CNN chief Jon Klein said that Woodruff is "one of the most brilliant and consistent and respected Washington journalists that there has ever been," and added that the network is "sorry to see her go."
