The Battlestar spinoff premiered to 1.6m viewers in January, but dropped to 1.4m for its second episode.
"I think the ratings could be better but I'm encouraged that the ratings have continued to climb over the last couple of episodes," Ronald D. Moore told DS. "I think that's good. I'm pleased.
"I've had a very positive reaction. The fans have been very kind and people have been great in the online world."
Caprica continues Fridays at 9pm on Syfy in the US and Tuesdays at 9pm on Sky1 in the UK.
