According to IESB, the new show is based on the franchise's Galactic Heroes toy line.
Like the toys, the forthcoming project will be aimed at pre-school to kindergarten-aged children. The programme's working title is Squishies.
A network or cable deal has yet to be announced for the series.
Star Wars: The Clone Wars currently airs weekly on Cartoon Network.
