The 68-year-old signed to co-star opposite Dermot Mulroney in the update, says The Hollywood Reporter.
Mulroney will play Jim Rockford, portrayed by James Garner in the original series. Bridges will take on the role of Rockford's loving truck driver father Rocky.
Noah Beery Jr played Rocky on the 1970s series.
House creator David Shore is executive producing The Rockford Files along with Steve Carell.
Dollhouse actor Alan Tudyk also recently joined the project as Rockford's friend Detective Dennis Becker.
