The network has named CNN's chief international correspondent Christiane Amanpour as replacement for George Stephanopoulos, who left the show to host Good Morning America.
"With Christiane we have the opportunity to provide our audiences with something different on Sunday mornings," ABC News president David Westin announced.
Amanpour said: "I didn't know about war until I started covering it. I didn't know about famine until I was in the middle of one."
The journalist has worked as an international correspondent for 18 years.
