Sissy Spacek joins CBS medical pilot

Sissy Spacek has joined CBS's untitled medical drama.

The plot features a group of travelling doctors who aid patients unable to reach a hospital across the US.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the Big Love star will play the "visionary" leader of the team who must also cope with her own cancer diagnosis.

The Carrie actress rounds out a cast that already includes Skeet Ulrich, Rachelle Lefvre and Janeane Garofalo.

The project is written by Hannah Shakespeare and produced by John Wells.
