'Hairspray' actress to star in 'Huge'

Nikki Blonsky has signed on to appear in Huge on ABC Family.

According to Entertainment Weekly, the Hairspray star will play a weight loss camp attendant named Will who is the acerbic daughter of the owners of a fitness centre chain.

The plot has been described as Glee meets Ugly Betty and a weight loss camp comedy musical.

The programme also features David Hasselhoff's teenager Hayley who will play Amber, the hottest girl at camp who still thinks she is too heavy, and Zander Eckhouse (son of James) who has the role of Amber's love interest and fitness counsellor.

The series is based on the book by Sasha Paley and was written for television by My So-Called Life creator Winnie Holzman and her daughter Savannah Dooley.
