Showtime picks up 'Shameless' remake

Showtime has commissioned a US version of Shameless, with an initial run of twelve episodes, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

The show is based on the long-running Channel 4 series of the same name.

Southland executive producer John Wells teamed up with original series creator Paul Abbot to shoot the pilot in December, with both producing.

William H Macy and Emmy Rossum will star in the US version, with Allison Janney expected to recur.
