Rob Thomas was rumoured to be in talks for a big screen version of the CW show, but they had reportedly fallen through.
However, he has since claimed that there is still a chance the teen detective will go to cinemas, saying: "It's not dead. I continue to want to do it."
Series star Kristen Bell had previously said that a script for the Veronica Mars movie had been drafted, a claim that Thomas said was false.
"I did have a treatment and a pitch... [but] it's been back-burnered", he said. "But I still want to do it. I'm still happy to do it. We're still looking into it."
The second season of Thomas's latest project, the comedy Party Down, debuts on Starz on April 23.
