Lindo joins Jason Clarke and Jennifer Beals in the project from Shield producer Shawn Ryan, says The Hollywood Reporter.
The show centres on Detective Jarek Wysocki (Clarke), an officer known for his sense of humour, and Teresa (Beals), Chicago's first female police chief. They work together to clean up his city's corruption and violence.
Lindo has landed the role of a popular politician who might be concealing ties to organised crime.
The 57-year-old recently appeared on Mercy and Law & Order: Special Victim's Unit.
