According to Deadline Hollywood, the renewal is part of a new two-year deal Maher recently inked with the cable network.
The ninth season will launch in 2011 and feature 35 episodes of Maher's politically-charged chatshow.
His recent guests have included Brad Pitt, Sean Penn and Green Day's Billie Joe Armstrong.
