The 88-year-old actress will appear on the show on May 8 after a Facebook campaign urged executive producer Lorne Michaels to recruit her.
Former Saturday Night Live stars including Tina Fey, Amy Poehler and Molly Shannon will also join the programme.
Referring to the news that Jay-Z will be the musical guest, White told Zap2It: "Well, that'll be interesting! It'll be great fun."
White also revealed that she had not thought about who should be the musical guest when she hosts the show.
"I really didn't, in all honesty," she said. "I was just so thrilled when I heard that Tina and the girls were going to do it, I have tried not to have anything to say [on the creative end]. It's their show."
She continued: "All I have is veto power. If anything comes up that I don't feel comfortable doing, I can say, 'Can we go in another direction?'. They know what they're doing far better than I do, so I didn't even get into the musical end of it."
Last month, White claimed that she has no plans to retire.
