MSNBC has confirmed that The Situation, a new show hosted by former CNN commentator Tucker Carlson, will launch on June 13.

The show is expected to share elements in terms of style and presentation with ESPN's Pardon the Interruption, a show known for its whiplash-inducing pace as hosts and guests wend their way through numerous discussion topics. Today's announcement from MSNBC says that their show will be "a fast paced, no-holds-barred conversation about the day's developments in news, politics, world issues and pop culture."

MSNBC chief Rick Kaplan said that Carlson "is one of the most talented journalists working in television today," adding that the third-placed news channel is "extremely proud to have him join our primetime lineup and we know he will bring unbridled passion, knowledge and enthusiasm to the network and his show."

The Situation will air at 9pm ET during MSNBC's primetime lineup, slotting in after Countdown with Keith Olbermann.
