The Hollywood Reporter says that the network's president Michele Ganeless announced the news earlier.
Stewart, who works on The Daily Show, will now stay at the channel until June 2013.
Meanwhile, Colbert will continue with The Colbert Report until the end of 2012.
The move means that both of the comedians will be at Comedy Central during the 2012 presidential election campaign.
