Ian Holm to play late pope

Garden State actor Ian Holm will star in a CBS biopic of Pope John Paul II (Karol Wojtyla).

The four-hour miniseries Pope John Paul II will see Holm play the pontiff from his school days up to his death earlier this year, reports Variety.

Vatican historians have played a part in scripting the project and its makers have been afforded exclusive access to St. Peter's Square and its surroundings.

The series could air as early as November.
