Animated 'Green Lantern' announced

Cartoon Network has announced an animated series based on DC's best-selling Green Lantern title.

Phil Kent, chairman and CEO of Time Warner's Turner Networks unit, unveiled the forthcoming cartoon at an investor meeting, according to The Hollywood Reporter.

Green Lantern: The Animated Series is expected to air in the second year after the release of the live-action Green Lantern movie.

The film, starring Ryan Reynolds, is scheduled for release on June 17, 2011.
