The announcement of the death of ABC News anchor Peter Jennings was made at 11:41pm ET on Sunday night. Charlie Gibson anchored a special report live on the ABC TV network during which colleagues paid tribute to the anchor and senior editor of World News Tonight.

"He was a graceful man, he was an elegant man. He was a man of manners. He was also a terrific reporter and a great anchor for ABC News, as we say, our leader. And he is gone," said Gibson.

Digital Spy presents this picture special showing some events during Jennings' career at ABC News. Pictures are from ABC.
