According to Entertainment Weekly, former 24 star Garofalo may join Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour as one of "an elite team of agents within the FBI’s Behavioral Analysis Unit".
Garofalo is said to have become available when her previous pilot - an untitled medical drama from ex-ER producer John Wells - failed to make the network's fall lineup.
The new show will also star Oscar winner Forest Whitaker. Whitaker's character - FBI agent Sam Cooper - was previously introduced in the eighteenth episode of Criminal Minds' fifth season.
Criminal Minds: Suspect Behaviour will debut on CBS in 2011.
