'West Wing' gives star intellectual label
Published Saturday, Oct 8 2005, 14:53 BST | By Daniel Kilkelly
The West Wing's Allison Janney loves her role of press secretary CJ on the show - because people believe that she is as intelligent as her character.
The actress has admitted that she was never viewed as an intellectual before she joined the series.
"I'm not as smart as CJ. I love playing her because I can fool people into believing I'm incredibly bright and witty," Janney is quoted by The Mirror as saying.
"I don't always understand the finer points of my monologues on the show. I just memorise the lines and say them."
