BET commissions new comedy pilot

BET has commissioned a new comedy pilot starring former Girlfriends actress Tracee Ellis Ross.
Deadline reports that she will also produce Reed Between the Lines for the cable network.
The pilot, written by Kellie Grffin, will star Ross as Dr Carla Reed, "a busy psychiatrist, wife and mum struggling to balance her job and her happy but chaotic homelife".
Ross will serve as co-executive producer alongside Arthur Harris. Production is due to begin in Atlanta on August 11.
BET - Black Entertainment Television - is also working on a number of other original scripted series, including the Queen Latifah-produced Let's Stay Together and Girlfriends spinoff The Game.
