Fancast reports that the actor will play Jack, a professional golf player.
Cavanagh is known for his role as Dan, the brother of JD (Zach Braff) on Scrubs and will also appear in the forthcoming Yogi Bear movie.
Actress Amy Sedaris will also appear as Nan Noonan, who partners up with Jill (Jill Flint) for a golf tournament.
Sedaris - who has previously appeared in Sex and the City and The Closer - most recently guest-starred in ABC sitcom The Middle.
The summer finale of Royal Pains airs this Thursday at 10/9c on the USA Network. The second season will resume in January 2011.
