Entertainment Weekly reports that the former Scrubs star will feature in an episode expected to air in the fall.
He will play the father of Jules (Courteney Cox) and could interfere with her new romance with Grayson (Josh Hopkins).
Jenkins and Cox previously appeared together in a three-episode arc on Scrubs.
No story details or air date have yet been confirmed for the episode.
Cougar Town creator Bill Lawrence previously said that he was keen for the cast of Scrubs to appear on his new show.
The second season of Cougar Town begins September 22 on ABC.
