The project is currently looking for a writer, according to Deadline.
The original strip, written by cartoonist Jerry Scott and illustrated by Jim Borgman, began in 1997 and is syndicated in 1,500 newspapers. It follows American teen Jeremy as he struggles to balance his social life, high school and family issues.
Bruckheimer TV - a section of Warner Bros. TV founded by director Jerry Bruckheimer - will produce the pilot.
The company is said to be keen to develop a number of half-hour comedies after focusing exclusively on one-hour dramas this season.
