Kevin Kennedy told The Hollywood Reporter that he is keen for Aykroyd to reunite with series star Jim Belushi. The pair toured as the Blues Brothers throughout the '90s after Belushi's brother John starred alongside Aykroyd in the 1980 film of the same name.
"We have a lot planned and we certainly have a dream list [of guest stars]," explained Kennedy. "We want to get Dan Aykroyd together with Jim."
However, the producer admitted that organising the guest spot had proven difficult.
"It's a scheduling thing and it wouldn't happen until the end of the year," he said.
Kennedy also confirmed that Rebecca Romijn, the wife of series star Jerry O'Connell, is being considered for a role.
"That's certainly possible," he confessed. "We thought about her for a role early in the year then decided to save her for something better."
The Defenders premieres on September 22 on CBS.
