The actor told ChuckTV that viewers will see his character working alongside the CIA.
"The Buy More is rebuilt and taken over by the CIA," he explained. "Morgan [is] in charge of keeping the CIA's cover. I'm not jumping out of any planes yet, though, so there's room for growth."
Gomez dismissed the suggestion that Morgan will be involved in any forthcoming action scenes.
"Combat skills are not Morgan's forte," he admitted. "I think he wants to learn [and] get better. He's got a sort of mentor... in John Casey (Adam Baldwin). I'm hoping he can teach me some fisticuffs."
He added that it was important for the character to continue to grow and change.
"Every season he has had these evolutions, none greater than in season 3 when [he] finally got to learn about Chuck," he said. "The challenge is trying to find ways to have a character evolve and mature, yet keep... whatever it was that made him likeable [in] the beginning."
Chuck will return to NBC on September 20.
