The My Boys actor will appear in the show's season two finale, TV Guide reports.
He is expected to play a park ranger called Pete Stambleck who leaves the woods one day with a different personality and no memory of the previous evening.
Hank (Mark Feuerstein) is then asked to work out what has happened to him.
Gaffigan has also starred in movies including Going The Distance and Away We Go and has appeared in episodes of Flight Of The Conchords and Law & Order.
Royal Pains will return for new episodes on USA this winter.
