'LUX' Appleby: 'Cate is really confused'

Shiri Appleby has revealed that her Life Unexpected character Cate is "confused" about her relationships.

Cate married Ryan (Kerr Smith) at the end of the first season but still seems to have feelings for Baze (Kristoffer Polaha).

"I think she's really confused," Appleby told Fancast. "If [Baze] had gone to the church earlier, who knows? We'd be telling a totally different story.

"Now that she's married, it's like, how do [Cate and Baze] move forward? How do they raise a kid together when they basically just admitted to each other that in some way they love each other?"

Appleby also suggested that Cate and Ryan will face problems in their marriage, saying: "I don't think they have any idea what each other's expectations are for their marriage or their life. I don't think they know simple things like who's going to pay what bill or what religion they would both want to practice. They literally don't know anything about each other."

She continued: "Their main connection was that they work really well together and they were physically attracted to each other. They got married to get married and will figure it out later on."

The new season of Life Unexpected continues tonight at 9/8c on The CW.
