Earlier this month, it emerged that ABC has ordered a pilot of the remake, which is being executive produced by James Cameron.
Curtis, who starred in the original movie, has now told The Hollywood Reporter that she doesn't know how the show will work.
"What's beautiful about True Lies is the mistaken identity part," she said. "So once she knows he's a spy, I don't know how you can continue that. How are they going to make it funny once she finds out what he does?"
However, Curtis added: "I think movies can make good TV series. I'll be interested to see how they develop."
She also suggested that she would reprise her role of Helen "in a heartbeat" but explained that she has not been approached by Cameron, saying: "I don't own it. I was just in it."
