The network won the project after a bidding war, Deadline says.
The original film, which was released in 2005, starred Will Smith as a "date doctor" who falls for a gossip columnist.
The new television show is said to be an "action-packed" one-hour programme and has allegedly received a script commitment from Fox.
Peter Chiarelli, who worked on The Proposal, is writing the project. It is being produced by Smith's company Overbrook Entertainment and Sony Pictures TV.
