Viewers saw the biker strike a bargain with Agent Stahl (Ally Walker) in the latest episode to protect his family and the club.
"The deal with Stahl will become their secret," Sutter told TV Squad. "If Jax delivers Jimmy and gives intel to prosecute, Stahl will reduce the federal gun charges [against the club]. Then they all go to jail. [Jax] can't get immunity or they will know he ratted."
Sutter reasoned that Jax's need to be reunited with his kidnapped son Abel and the ill health of his mother Gemma (Katey Segal) forced him to make the deal.
"Seeing his mother and Clay (Ron Perlman) in such pain [and] knowing he needs to find his son motivates Jax to take the risk of trusting Stahl," explained the writer.
Sons of Anarchy continues this Tuesday at 10/9c on FX.
