Dick Wolf defends 'L&O: LA' premiere

He told Los Angeles Magazine that it was necessary to include stereotypical LA personas in the premiere.
"We are trying to fulfill an expectation of what LA is about," he explained. "The first episode was very deliberate. It's not going to be [set in] Hollywood every week, but I thought it was the best way to introduce the show [and] to show that it was really different from the New York version."
Wolf also claimed that future episodes will explore the darker side of the criminal justice system.
"The entire ethos of the show is that life is not black and white," he said. "It's a shade of grey and the more grey it is, the better we like it. That's the bottom line. Black and white is too easy."
Law & Order: Los Angeles continues on Wednesdays at 10/9c on NBC.
