JAG renewed by CBS

Variety has reported that CBS has paid somewhere in the "high $1 million range" per episode for military drama JAG, keeping the show on the network for a further two years. In the past season, CBS was paying somewhere in the "$1.2 - $1.3 million range" per episode, according to a Tribune Media Services publication.
It is believed that renewal talks between CBS and Paramount were less than smooth, despite both companies being owned by the same parent, Viacom. While Paramount was asking for somewhere in the mid-to-upper $2m range per episode, CBS only offered a little more than what they were currently paying. Despite this, Paramount did not take bids from any rival networks during the negotiating process - CBS's exclusive negotiating period for the series ended last week.
