ABC sports commentator Al Michaels has left the network, reportedly over a dispute regarding the future direction of Monday Night Football.
The show, moving to ESPN, announced a new anchor team yesterday from which Michaels was conspiciously absent.
"Al was not comfortable and let us know that he was not comfortable with the way that we were going," ESPN executive VP for content John Skipper told the Hollywood Reporter. "We want to work with the people who want to work with us. We made a decision quickly to move on."
Fellow commentator John Madden has already announced that he plans to join NBC for Sunday Night Football.
UPDATE: Al Michaels will join NBC Sports. More here.
