Former Seinfeld star Jason Alexander has reportedly signed up for a guest role in Franklin & Bash.

The new TNT show stars Mark-Paul Gosselaar and Breckin Meyer as two young lawyers who join a traditional firm.

TV Guide says that Alexander has now signed up to play Carter, a wealthy businessman who hires the duo but gets them into trouble with his unethical behaviour.

"He's basically a Bernie Madoff kind of guy who screwed everybody rather heartlessly," Alexander said. "He finds out he has very little time on the planet and has a 'come to Jesus' transformation. He hires Franklin and Bash to keep him out of trouble when he decides to distribute the wealth in the way he's going to. He's going to screw a lot of his fellow bad guys in order to do it."

Alexander explained that he was impressed by the show's pilot and added: "You do yourself a disservice not to watch Breckin and Mark-Paul at work. I think they are going to be one of the most beloved teams in TV comedy for a while if the show can get enough face time. They have a magical rapport that I haven't seen in a comedy series, let alone a legal series. It's something not to be missed."

Alexander is expected to appear in one episode of Franklin & Bash. The show is currently scheduled to premiere on TNT in the summer.
