'Animal Kingdom' still - Sullivan Stapleton
Sullivan Stapleton has landed a leading part in a new HBO series.

The Australian actor, who is best known for his role in crime movie Animal Kingdom, has signed a contract for at least two seasons of Strike Back.

Stapleton told the Herald Sun that the part was a "dream come true" after years of "plugging away" in Australian television dramas.

He said: "Apparently they wanted an American, and they've ended up with me. To land a series in the States, well, I just couldn't ask for anything more, and to run around with guns and play soldiers, surely it's every boy's dream."

Stapleton also said that filming the series would be a "tough few months" away from girlfriend Jo Beth Taylor, adding: "Hopefully she might be able to come out at some point, but it's tricky. We won't be the first couple to do the long-distance thing though."
