'CSI' edges 'Idol' on Thursday in US

CSI was the top-rated programme in the US on Thursday night, according to fast ratings data.
The crime drama had 27.6 million viewers for CBS in the 9pm hour, putting it slightly ahead of FOX's American Idol, which drew a reduced 26.2 million to its results show at 8pm.
Idol still led the 8pm hour, however, with nearest rival Survivor: Exile Island having to settle for 16.2 million. NBC's Deal Or No Deal had a season low of 9.6 million while a rerun of Sweet Home Alabama averaged 7.6 million for ABC through 10pm.
FOX also enjoyed success at 9 with 14.1 million for the finale of Skating With Celebrities opposite CSI. NBC's comedy double of My Name Is Earl (11.3 million) and The Office (8.5 million) placed third.
Without A Trace and ER tied at 10 with 13 million viewers, although the former led in 25-54.
