Deadline says that the untitled project has been written by Emily Spivey, who previously worked on Saturday Night Live and now produces Parks & Recreation.
The show is said to be an "irreverent" look at parenthood through the eyes of a working mother who never thought she would have children. Her stay-at-home husband and opinionated parents are also expected to feature in the series.
Meanwhile, NBC also ordered a pilot called Bent from Scrubs and Dirty Sexy Money producer Ted Quill. The show focuses on a "type A" single mother who tries not to fall for the "surfer dude" contractor she hires to redecorate her kitchen.
NBC is currently developing a number of new comedies including a show set at a theme park and projects from Chelsea Handler and Whitney Cummings.
