'Mad Men' leads WGA TV awards winners

Mad Men has picked up two prizes at the 2011 Writers Guild of America awards.

The AMC series, which focuses on a group of advertising executives in 1960s New York, was named the best drama series and was honoured for its episode 'The Chrysanthemum and the Sword'.

Other television winners included Modern Family, which was named 'Best Comedy'. 30 Rock picked up the episodic comedy prize for its instalment 'When It Rains, It Pours'.

Futurama won the 'Best Animation' honour for its episode 'The Prisoner of Benda', while The Colbert Report picked up a prize in the 'Comedy/Variety' category.

Meanwhile, Boardwalk Empire won the 'Best New Series' award and The Pacific was the winner in the 'Long Form - Adaptation' category. Peter Morgan's The Special Relationship topped the 'Long Form - Original' list and As The World Turns was named 'Best Daytime Drama'.

Further honours went to productions including the children's TV movie Avalon High and the National Memorial Day Concert 2010.
