Paget Brewster has reportedly been asked to remain as a series regular on Criminal Minds next season.

Brewster's future on the show was placed in doubt last year when it emerged that her role had been reduced.

TV Line says that producers on Criminal Minds have now told Brewster that they would like her to be a full cast member next season.

However, Brewster's contract means that she is allowed to sign up for a pilot for the autumn and she is allegedly hoping to find a new show to work on.

Writers on Criminal Minds are now expected to leave the current season on a cliffhanger which would mean that Brewster's character Emily Prentiss could either return or leave.

Meanwhile, Brewster's co-stars Thomas Gibson and Shemar Moore are said to still be in negotiations for the next season of Criminal Minds.

The show airs on Wednesdays at 9/8c on CBS.
