Deadline claims that the pair are in final negotiations to appear alongside Jeffrey Dean Morgan in the series, which will focus on the criminals, politicians and entertainers who meet at the first big Miami hotel.
Strait will play the hedonistic Stevie, the oldest son of the suave Ike (Morgan). He previously starred in 2008 war film Stop-Loss opposite Channing Tatum and Joseph Gordon-Levitt, and recently made a guest appearance on Chase.
Cemetery Junction star Cooke will play Ike's good-natured younger son Stevie, who is studying to become a law graduate. His past television credits include roles in Trinity, Demons and Doctor Who.
Production on Magic City's ten-part run is expected to begin in Miami early next year and the show is scheduled to premiere in 2012.
