Glee's executive producers Ryan Murphy and Brad Falchuk have started work on a new pilot for FX.

TV Line reports that the project is an hour-long drama called American Horror Story.

Further details about the show have not yet been released but Falchuk described it as a horror show with "subversive sensibilities".

FX president John Landgraf said: "American Horror Story is a wildly brilliant original series. Ryan and Brad, who created it together, are evil geniuses."

However, Murphy reassured fans of Glee that the project will not affect the musical show.

"We haven't taken our eyes off that ball for a second," he said. "We've broken the stories for the season's remaining episodes and we've got big things planned for our little glee club as it strives to make it past regionals to the all-important nationals competition in New York City."

Murphy and Falchuk have also previously worked together on the FX drama Nip/Tuck.
