Long-time 60 Minutes correspondent Mike Wallace is to retire at the end of the current US television season.
"As I approach my 88th birthday, it's become apparent to me that my eyes and ears, among other appurtenances, aren't quite what they used to be," he told the New York Times, adding that the "prospect of long flights to wherever in search of whatever are not quite as appealing."
He said that the decision was his, and added that CBS wasn't "pushing" him.
