The comedy, which is based on a book by Bruce Feiler, examines what happens when a terminally ill man called Michael sets up a council of fathers to help raise his children after he dies.
According to Deadline, Farr has joined the cast as Michael's wife. She is determined to stick with the idea of the council, but is shocked when the five members can't agree on anything.
Breen will play council member Jerry, Michael's former therapist who serves as the 'Feelings Dad'. Meanwhile, Howard will play Michael's father Burt, a tough former military man who joins the panel.
Farr has previously appeared in shows including Roswell High, Rescue Me, Numb3rs and Californication.
Breen appeared in Kevin Hill and has recently guest starred in programmes such as Nurse Jackie and The Good Wife, while Howard featured in Melrose Place and Crossing Jordan. More recently, he had guest roles in 30 Rock and Fairly Legal.
