Deadline reports that the actor will appear alongside the previously-cast Rob Corddry in the project, which will focus on three families brought together by their children's interest in little league sports.
Hart will play Ty Burleson, a former professional athlete who has become a house husband and youth baseball coach.
The comedian previously starred in fantasy spoof Kröd Mändoon and the Flaming Sword of Fire and has recently appeared in films such as Death at a Funeral and Little Fockers.
The Little in Common pilot has been written by Party Down creator Rob Thomas, and will be produced by Warner Bros. TV.
