Entertainment Weekly claims that Johnson will play the title character in A Mann's World, which follows a Beverly Hills coiffeur who attempts to stay cool and relevant in spite of his advancing years.
Also cast in the project is former The Vampire Diaries guest star Taylor Kinney, who will play one of Mann's competitors, a young hair stylist.
Sex & The City writer Michael Patrick King will serve as executive producer on the series, as well as both directing and scripting the show's pilot episode.
