The actor, who plays Charlie Duchamp in the new A&E drama, told TV Squad that the return of Knepper's character will wrap up loose threads from Fox's Prison Break.
"A lot of Prison Break fans are chomping at the bit to see T-Bag," he admitted. "The beauty [of it] is that it also brings closure to some open-ended questions from [that show]."
Alonso also revealed that Knepper had found reprising his role to be an emotional experience.
"When they finished shooting, Robert burst into tears," he claimed. "[He] said he's been waiting for five years for that closure."
Producer Nick Santora previously confirmed that T-Bag will be "making an appearance very early" in the show's first season.
Breakout Kings premieres on March 6 at 10pm on A&E.
